The Exchange
Developed in partnership with 4 developer groups, the design team, the City of Hercules, and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission, The Exchange was the first project to be built within the Hercules Bayfront. A former brownfield site, the 42-acre waterfront was master planned as a transit-oriented, mixed-use community on San Pablo Bay.
The corner lot includes 172 housing units across a mix of 4-5 story buildings and 3-story townhomes, plus ground floor retail along both street frontages. The interior courtyards feature outdoor amenities including kitchen & dining, living and gathering spaces, roof terraces, and pet facilities. We worked closely with the Bay Area Trails Collaborative to integrate public amenities into the part of the San Francisco Bay Trail that runs through the site. Public plazas, bike parking, ample seating, cafe seating, and low water plantings provide anyone the opportunity to take in the views of the creek and bay beyond.
